Daniel Mendez Delgado

Associate Policy Advisor

Daniel Mendez-Delgado is the Associate Policy Advisor of the Digital Finance department at the IIF. In this role, he covers Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Digital Economy & Ecosystems, Embedded Finance, Open Data, Digital Assets, CBDCs and Cross-Border Payments.

Prior to joining the IIF in 2022, Daniel worked as an advisor for innovation and market development for the Financial Regulation Unit at the Ministry of Finance in Colombia, where he collaborated on a number of topics such as Open Finance, Digital Lending, New Technologies for Capital Markets, Credit Scoring, Crowdfunding and Financial Inclusion. Daniel also has experience working for an international financial group and a law firm in these topics.

Education

Daniel holds an LLB and an LLM from Universidad de los Andes in Colombia, where he also finished graduate studies in financial regulation. He has completed complimentary courses in the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Colombia and in the Cambridge Judge Business School from the University of Cambridge. In 2019, Daniel received an award from the Latin American Banks Federation –FELABAN– for his paper on regulatory approaches on Initial Coin Offerings. He has also been invited as a guest speaker for different universities and forums.
